Welcome to Hackenthorpe Hall.

Ladybirds Playroom – 3 to 4 years

Ladybird’s begins the process of preparing each child for school by providing a structured daily experience of nursery life.

Stimulating activities are planned to encourage understanding through logic, reasoning and free thought which further develops social, emotional, physical and intellectual skills within each child’s ability. Each child’s foundation stage profile is closely followed throughout the day.

Although the Ladybirds have a more structured day, music-time, story-time, outdoor play, imaginary play, free play and messy and creative play are still an essential part of the daily routine.

Meal times are also important and are made enjoyable whilst encouraging children to eat a wide variety of foods. The children learn table manners and enjoy deciding their own quantities of food and there is always plenty for second helpings. From time to time the younger children join ladybirds for mealtimes and this creates a different environment for all the children.

The children are given the opportunity to experience a varied range of activities within their daily routine, which in turn prepares them not only intellectually but also emotionally and socially for their time at school. Activities include Numbers, letters, pencil control, name writing and scissor control. We also teach a wide range of topics and study the weather board every day after registration time. This introduces the children to the days, months and years. The season and the weather for that day are also discussed.
